Galene - "one who is relaxing, calm or quiet"

This Great Blue Heron is made entirely by hand. Each piece of this stunning bird was cut by hand on my scroll saw and shaped using my rotary tool. Once primed and sanded smooth, the pieces were cut using varying shades of blue for the feathers and pops of orange & yellow for the bill & legs.

This backer is made from unique Spalted Maple and is frame in oiled Red Tarara wood to tie in with the colour of the bill & legs of the bird. Walnut splines were inserted into the mitered corners for contrast and to reinforce the strength and stability of this art piece.
