A spalted maple herringbone backer framed in solid white oak. A smaller inner frame has been added to help add dimension & interest to the 3D butterfly.
This butterfly was hand drawn on my iPad using Procreate and the design was printed and added to MDF for cutting on my scroll saw. Each piece was painted separately and reassembled like a puzzle. The edges of the butterfly have been sanded down to give the illusion of it coming off the backer and casting a stunning shadow beneath it.
This piece comes complete with a sawtooth hanger but can sit independently on a shelf.
