This large backer is made from individual pieces of white oak, chamfered edges with a router and placed in a herringbone pattern. Contrasting walnut splines have been added to each corner to reinforce the mitre. It is framed in rabbeted white oak and two white oak inner frames. A laser cut wood slice with engraved rings is placed on a spacer to create a shadow effect as it is lifted off the backer. Hand cut fern fronds peek out from the bottom of the wood slice much like our beautiful forests. Five hand cut & shaped pine trees emerge from the top of the wood round. This piece comes complete with a cleat hanger for easy hanging in your space
